Dailymotion standardizes on Unified Streaming for all live streaming

Dailymotion, one of the biggest video platforms in the world (128 million monthly unique visitors*) has selected Unified Streaming, a leading provider of cross-platform streaming technologies, for its live streaming Platform. Dailymotion provides a wide range of Live content such as Gaming tournaments, 24 hours news or cultural events. (*Source comScore Videometrix 2014)
Dailymotion is very well adapted to the trend of online interaction with its community and offers a great variety of content from users, independent creators and premium partners across all digital devices. It provides HD video in a fast, easy-to-use online service.

Due to significant increase in demand for live streaming, Dailymotion decided to design a new live platform more scalable and reliable. For the new live platform, which is mostly developed in-house, Dailymotion required high performance streaming software with small footprint. Rigorous testing of Unified Streaming software showed that it could handle hundreds of simultaneous ingest streams under various conditions, which is one of the reasons Dailymotion chose Unified Streaming software. Dailymotion now has a future proof, multi-functional, performance optimized live platform that can ingest a variety of formats but also offers protection of live streams using DRM.

Dailymotion seeks new investor

French telco Orange is looking for a new financial partner to invest in video sharing platform Dailymotion. According to daily Le Monde, Orange has not given up the idea to expand Dailymotion internationally.

Orange has spent an additional €30 million on the platform since 2013 and Dailymotion still faces strategic questions about international growth.
Last February, Orange CEO Stephane Richard confirmed ongoing talks with Microsoft for a partnership, but negotiations broke down. One year earlier, interest from Yahoo was also aborted, after the French governemnt, which owns 27 per cent of Orange, opposed.

All options are now being considered though Orange is open about the fact that Dailymotion’s future is linked to an expansion into the US.

Introducing Dailymotion Exchange, a new global and premium video marketplace

Dailymotion Advertising has announced the launch of Dailymotion Exchange (DMX), a new private video marketplace dedicated to the automated purchasing of advertising space on Dailymotion, in all territories.

Dailymotion Exchange, the new Dailymotion marketplace, will enable local and international trading desks (agencies and advertisers) to build programmatic campaigns for highly targeted audiences.

 

Based on real-time bidding (RTB), DMX allows buyers to bid on Dailymotion’s video advertising inventory as well as the ability to purchase guaranteed volumes (“Private Deals”).

“With 4 years of experience in providing programmatic video ads in different video marketplaces around the globe, Dailymotion Advertising is now providing a much more powerful offer, with unique targeting capabilities,” said Damien Pigasse, Chief Revenue Officer at Dailymotion.

To maximise ad campaign effectiveness, DMX provides advanced targeting features, including:
– Multi-screen: desktop, mobile, tablet, TV (connected TVs and IPTV boxes)
– Contextual: 10 different thematic collections of premium inventory on Dailymotion – over 45,000 official content partners worldwide.
– Audience profile, with the provision of “1st party” unique and highly qualified data: socio-demographic, behavioral and interests-based targets.

DMX has been rolled out globally since the beginning of summer and is now interfaced with most global DSPs (“Demand Side Platforms”). This gives agencies and advertiser trading desks access to over 1.5 billion monthly impressions of Dailymotion inventory.

There are fifteen people operating the platform spanning from Paris, New York to Palo Alto.
